This week

This week has involved lots of annoying things, the worst of which have included:

  • estate (real estate) agents. What is up with them? I don’t actually understand what is happening with London’s rental market right now, but it mysteriously seems to have defeated capitalism and is now only working in a bizarre universe, in which people trade in incompetency. Things that have occurred include: (1) emails from agents who allegedly already found us a flat, asking if we were still looking for property; (2) “automated” systems taking 5 days to email e-business cards for agents in certain regions; (3) getting an advert for the property we had allegedly agreed to rent, several days after we thought we’d agreed on it. I am sure there are more examples, but who knows. I was told that something like 86% of one person’s clients renewed on their lease, and another person told me I was competing with about 1,800 (or 18,000? not sure) for 92 flats.

I don’t remember the other part of this list. I think maybe my week was just dominated by estate agents. But I am off to Pisa and Florence this weekend, and who can argue with that?

  1. INCOMPETENCIES SELL ALL OVER THE WORLD NOW. MIGHT BE DELIBERATE: HADN’T BANKERS A FIELD DAY STEALING FROM US?

IN NIGERIA AGENTS TAKE YOUR MONEY AND TELL YOU STORIES, AND PUT YOU IN DOG HOUSE!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO, WHEN THERE IS CRUMBLING MORALITY. OR DID WE EVER HAVE MORALITY IN ESTATE BUSINESS?
